Cushman & Wakefield
One of the largest real estate services companies in the world.
England-born Bernard Wakefield and J. Clydesdale Cushman founded their eponymous firm after working together at the brokerage Heckscher & de Saulles. Chicago-based DTZ acquired it in 2015 for $2 billion. The buyer took the Cushman & Wakefield name after DTZ assembled a large collection of real estate companies, including Massey Knakal and Cassidy Turley.
The company is one of the most prolific dealmakers in New York and globally, having represented buyers or sellers in some of the biggest real estate leases and sales ever completed, including Related and Allianz’s $2.2 billion sale-leaseback deal with WarnerMedia at 30 Hudson Yards and Google’s $2.4 billion purchase of Chelsea Market from Jamestown in 2018, the largest office deal in New York real estate history.
According to their web site, C&W has some 53,000 employees in 60 countries and claimed $8.8 billion in revenue in 2019.
