Project Destined keeps more than 8,000 students busy — but nobody’s busier there than Cedric Bobo.

Bobo has continued to train students under the Project Destined umbrella, which aims to diversify the ranks of commercial real estate. He teaches some of its courses himself, and maintains his organization’s partnerships with more than 250 real estate firms. Rather than stop there, however, Bobo is thinking bigger. He wants to provide even more opportunities, for even more students, to enter and learn about the industry.

In April 2024, Bobo announced the Project Destined Real Estate Certificate Program. That program aims to provide college and university students with comprehensive real estate training. Bobo has developed an organized catalog of more than 10 courses that would ideally be available for class credit, depending on the school.

“What we want to do is kind of be able to offer high-quality training that’s been supported by industry firms, and we’re delivering it to you year-round virtually,” Bobo told Commercial Observer for a previous article in March.

Thus far, thousands of students across 1,300 universities have gone through Project Destined’s training, gaining awareness of real estate and often entering the industry upon graduation. The majority of those students, however, lack proper training at their schools — a gap the certificate program can fill.

Project Destined’s program will introduce students to the basics of real estate, offering overviews on everything from capital markets to affordable housing. Bobo is developing the courses with input from industry professionals. That way, they’ll align with real estate practices — no busy work, here.

“It’s really building courses in partnership with schools but also in partnership with great companies,” said Bobo, who, in addition to his partnerships with universities, is also working with BGO and Walker & Dunlop.

While Project Destined’s Real Estate Certificate Program is still in its early stages, it’s already much more than a project.
