Second-quarter office activity in Los Angeles is easily outshining activity during the first, now with a major vote of confidence from a premier tenant at one of the city’s most prized spaces.

Sources told Commercial Observer that Creative Artists Agency (CAA) — one of the preeminent representation firms for actors, athletes, musicians and more — renewed its lease at 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City. The lease is said to be close to 290,000 square feet.

Hines, one of the property’s owners, and CAA did not return requests for comment. The imposing campus is owned by Hines and Commingled Pension Trust Fund, managed by JPMorgan Chase.

Gensler redesigned the large horizontal structure with 750,000 square feet of office space facing the two Century Park Plaza towers. The owners secured a $1.2 billion commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) refinancing from Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley in 2019.

The lease extends a surge in recent office activity on L.A.’s Westside, following major renewals or expansions by Hulu, Snap Inc., GoodRx, and more.
