How much longer can this go on?
I would expect that at a minimum it will last until the end of the year.
What does normal look like?
I have to believe that people are going to change their work habits based on the fact that we saw that most businesses survived with all or most of their employees working remotely. I would expect some form of hybrid model going forward.
If you could go back in time to March of 2020, what’s the first thing you would do?
All I can think of is that we probably should have put more pressure on the government to take it seriously. Unfortunately, our president gambled that it would disappear, and, as a result, he lost an election that he would have easily won had he taken the pandemic seriously.
What do you do now that you never did before 2020?
I try to eat outside wherever I can.
What’s the biggest threat to the return to normal?
The failure of Americans to get vaccinated and to instead continue to listen to all sorts of misinformation on this subject. I think all of us who are vaccinated are quite angry as these people are putting all of our lives in jeopardy and prolonging the pandemic.
Is now the time to buy or sell?
We never sell so I don’t think about it; but I have not seen prices drop to bargain levels so I certainly would be a cautious buyer.
Suddenly, there’s a big change to the New York state constitution and you’re now named the 58th governor of the Empire State — what do you do about the eviction moratorium?
I think for a politician like Gov. Hochul the eviction moratorium makes sense provided that she distributes the money that the federal government has provided to make landlords whole.
Lightning round
Eric Adams or Curtis Sliwa?
Eric.
Last time you got on an airplane, what was your destination?
I am getting on a plane in a few hours to go to Columbus, Ohio.
What vax did you get?
Moderna.
Your go-to takeout?
In the office, Little Beet.
Where does your patience wear thinnest — evictions or anti-vaxxers?
Anti-vaxxers by far.
