Angela Gentry, an industry leader with two decades of real estate experience, has been promoted at JLL for the second time this year, Commercial Observer has learned. Gentry will serve as the firm’s new market lead for New York.

Gentry joined JLL in 2022 in a role that was created specifically for her: executive managing director of sales and platform for the New York tri-state. In May of this year, she was promoted to vice chairman of leasing advisory for the firm’s New York tri-state region, in which she worked to advance the firm’s growth initiatives and build client relationships.

In her new role as market lead in New York, Gentry will continue to lead growth strategy, financial performance, recruitment and talent development at JLL, as well as work with leaders across the firm’s business lines. Gentry will work alongside Peter Riguardi, JLL’s chairman and president for the New York tri-state region.

“Angela changed how this region goes after business, and other JLL markets are now adopting what she built,” Riguardi said in a statement. “Adding her to this team is a strategic move that will make us sharper and more aggressive in the market. I’m excited to build with her.”

Gentry spent about 17 years at CBRE before joining JLL in 2022. Since then, Gentry’s team has contributed to a 131 percent increase in new business opportunities at JLL, the firm said. She’s  also supported over $230 million in business endeavors.

“The best opportunities come when you challenge the way things have always been done,” Gentry said in a statement. “Peter’s leadership inspires us to push the limits of what we think is possible, and we’ve built something remarkable in this market. I’m energized to work alongside him in this new role. My priority is simple: win more business, grow our share and give our brokers every advantage to do it.”
