Seasoned broker Jeanette Ko has joined JLL (JLL) as a senior vice president in the firm’s Washington, D.C., leasing team.

A 10-year vet in real estate, Ko comes to JLL from Cushman & Wakefield (CWK), where she led investor services for the firm’s Northern Virginia operations.

One of her initial assignments will be working on leasing and marketing efforts for Brookfield (BN) PropertiesHalley Rise development, a 1.9 million-square-foot office development in Reston, Va.

“Halley Rise is such a dynamic, mixed-use site with one of the most respected developers in the world,” Ko told Commercial Observer. “The existing buildings have great bones and benefit greatly from the infill that is already happening with the Wegmans well underway and the Metro slated to open shortly.”

Furthermore, she noted companies are looking for ways to bring their workforce back in a meaningful way.

“Office spaces have to offer something outside of the traditional 9-to-5 day,” she said. “Halley Rise truly provides this offering through thoughtful, curated retail experiences at a large, 240,000-square-foot scale — vast green spaces and park programming throughout the site and amenity hubs. This creates organic flexibility for the office users on-site.”

Ko will also be part of the leasing teams for the remaining office space at Columbia Property Trust’s 80 M Street, a 286,000-square-foot office building in D.C.’s Navy Yard and the first mass-timber construction project in the region, scheduled to deliver in 2022.

In her new position, Ko will work alongside executive managing directors Evan Behr and Doug Mueller.

“I have long respected the powerhouse team Doug and Evan have built over the past decade-plus,” Ko said. “I’m looking forward to becoming fully immersed in the D.C. market, and helping to bridge a gap between the D.C. and Virginia markets.”
