Industry City is about to be awash in chairs, sofas and side tables.

The direct-to-consumer furniture rental company Feather just signed a three-year lease to relocate from near the Brooklyn Navy Yard to about 33,000 square feet at the Sunset Park, Brooklyn, campus, Commercial Observer has learned. Asking rents at Industry City range from $15 to $40 per square foot.

“Feather’s relocation to Industry City’s furniture design hub was not just about the initial attraction to a clean, high ceilinged warehouse space with ample loading,” Kathe Kramer Chase, director or leasing at the 16-building campus, said in a statement. “[It was also about] the opportunity to partner up with both Industry City and IC design tenants.”

The deal comes at the heels of ZZ Driggs’ 7,000-square-foot lease at the site, which the furniture rental and purchase company announced in June. Feather will join another new tenant, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, along with fashion brand Loeffler Randall, post-production firm KMH Audio-Video Integration and payment application company Square.

The campus, owned by Belvedere Capital, Jamestown, and Angelo Gordon & Co, encompasses 6 million square feet on the Brooklyn waterfront at 274 36th Street.

Industry City’s Matt Stewart represented the owners internally in the deal. The tenant represented themselves internally, said Stewart.

The access to multiple loading docks, oversized freight elevators and the environment drew Feather to the space, Stewart told CO.

“They wanted to be in a community that was engaging for their employees [and] they wanted their employees to have a very welcoming atmosphere, especially after the pandemic,” said Stewart. “The mix of the community and building specifications allowed them to have this flex warehouse-distribution use.”
