Engineering Consultant Grows at the Empire State Building


An infrastructure consulting firm has become the latest tenant to grow or move into the Empire State Building, which has seen a string of leases signed this year.

HNTB, a firm that consults on architecture, civil engineering and construction management, has inked an expansion deal for 26,800 square feet on the 62nd floor of the 102-story building at 350 Fifth Avenue, The Real Deal reported. The new lease brings HNTB’s space in the building to 105,100 square feet. The length of the lease and asking rent weren’t disclosed. The company first moved into the building’s 56th through 58th floors on a 78,400-square-foot lease in 2015.

Other recent deals in the Art Deco skyscraper between West 33rd and West 34th Streets include LinkedIn, which expanded to 312,000 square feet in July, and software vendor Workday Inc., which just grew by 5,300 square feet to 21,400 square feet in a newly announced deal. Medical software developer RaySearch and professional services firm BTS USA nailed down deals on the property’s 50th floor in January, taking 12,800 and 11,600 square feet respectively, as Commercial Observer reported.

Colliers (CIGI) International’s Sven Sykes handled the deal on behalf of HNTB. Cushman & Wakefield (CWK)’s Paige Engeldrum represented Workday. Ryan Kass and Shanae Ursini negotiated the transactions in-house for landlord Empire State Realty Trust, along with JLL’s Paul Glickman, Jonathan Fanuzzi and Harley Dalton.

Colliers and C&W did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
