Aetna Life Insurance Company has added another floor to its already hefty holding at SL Green Realty Corp.’s 100 Park Avenue in Midtown.

Commercial Observer has learned that the insurance giant signed a lease for more than 10 years to grab the whole 12th floor of the 36-story building. Aetna is adding 10,889 square feet to the 40,139 square feet it already leases on the 12th and 27th floors at the office tower between East 40th and East 41st Streets, according to a press release from the landlord.

The asking rent in the deal was $85 per square foot, according to an SL Green spokeswoman.

“We are delighted that Aetna chose to expand with us at 100 Park Avenue,” said Steven Durels, SL Green’s head of leasing, in prepared remarks. “The building’s convenient proximity to Grand Central Terminal and state-of-the-art redevelopment has attracted many high-profile businesses.”

Tara Stacom, Barry Zeller, Justin Royce and Matthias Li of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, while William Korchak of JLL represented Aetna. A JLL spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment.

The 887,489-square-foot building is also home to tenants such as Wells Fargo Capital Finance, tax and financial advisory BDO and energy company Aecom Technology.

Law firm Fox Rothschild is slated to leave 100 Park Avenue and move across the street to 101 Park Avenue. The firm inked a 48,000-square-foot deal at the building in March, as CO previously reported.
