An Australian sushi chain is looking to break into the New York City market, Joanne Podell, a vice chairman at Cushman & Wakefield (CWK), told Commercial Observer at International Council of Shopping Centers RECon in Las Vegas.

The chain, Sushi Sushi, has roughly 100 locations in Australia and its leasing agent, Suzie Wong, told Ms. Podell on Sunday that she is ready to start the search for a Manhattan outpost after a year of discussions.

On Thursday, Ms. Podell plans to start showing Ms. Wong around the borough, looking at spaces of around 2,500 square feet. Ms. Podell hopes the first Manhattan Sushi Sushi will open in spring 2015.

There is room in Manhattan for this chain, she said, because the food is healthy and can even be prepared gluten-free or by special order.

In addition, Ms. Podell said Ms. Wong “wants to have lunch for $10.”
