Doing deals across the commercial real estate spectrum is business as usual for Joseph Moinian and the Moinian Group, which he founded and leads.
The Moinian Group is among the only national real estate entities to develop, own and operate properties across virtually every asset category, including office, hotel, retail, condos and rental apartments. Its holdings include high-profile assets in leading cities across the U.S., including New York, Dallas, Miami and Los Angeles.
Just this year in New York City, the Moinian Group saw its 535 Fifth Avenue property reach 100 percent retail occupancy, when Paris-based professional football club Paris Saint-Germain signed a 10-year lease for 5,200 square feet.
New development has also been on the company’s agenda. In January it announced that vertical construction had commenced at 7 Platt Street, a 35-story, 250-unit luxury residential development in Manhattan’s Financial District. The project’s design is being spearheaded by Rockwell Group, and the architecture efforts are being led by Hill West Architects.
Moinian is also busy on the other side of the East River. In February, it and partner Bushburg launched leasing at The Highland, the 320-unit residential component of the redevelopment and expansion of the Empire State Dairy Company site project at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in Cypress Hills. Move-ins started in March.
“We’re thrilled to be launching leasing at The Highland, delivering an accessible and needed multifamily housing offering to Cypress Hills for those currently and prospectively looking to live within the neighborhood,” Moinian Group principal Mitchell Moinian (Joe’s son) said in a statement. “We look forward to our continued work with all partners involved as we bring the project to final fruition and welcome residents to their new home.”
