Jodie Poirier
Executive managing director in Greater Los Angeles at Colliers International
Jodie Poirier moved across the country from Boston during the pandemic to become Colliers International’s executive managing director for the Los Angeles region.
That meant meeting a whole new team of colleagues during the age of Zoom, but, luckily, Los Angeles has the right weather to make up for it. “There were lots of meetings in coffee shops,” she said.
In her role, she is responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the region, and her focus is on supporting Colliers brokers so they can deliver for clients. With all the changes in the market, it means that brokers have to be very nimble, and adapt to shifting situations.
“I am very thankful to our organization for being entrepreneurial in nature and nimble in the way it is structured,” Poirier said. “That allows us, and it allows me in running this business, to better react to scenarios.”
Poirier rejoined Colliers after working at CBRE in several roles. She was director of brokerage services for Colliers from 2011 to 2014.
While work has been busier than ever, Poirier has been making time to stay active. She and her husband will run or hike on the trails near their home in the South Bay, or along the beach. “I would say, if I’m not working, that I like to be exercising,” she said.
Poirier’s husband works in health care, so the early days of the pandemic, when cases were spiking in Boston, were especially scary, she said. “He’s not in pulmonary care or infectious diseases, and yet, he and other colleagues were getting drafted to work in other areas because there were not enough professionals,” she said. “So that was very stressful.”
Now, she’s focused on what comes next, and preparing her Colliers team to help their clients weather whatever the winter, and next year, bring.—C.G.
