The Orchard, Queens’ tallest residential tower, has signed several new retail leases totaling 7,468 square feet, building owner and developer BLDG Management announced Thursday.
In September, financial services platform Intuit, the company behind programs including TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma and Mailchimp, signed a 3,546-square-foot lease at the 70-story property at 42-06 Orchard Street in Queens’ Long Island City neighborhood.
“The Orchard was designed to be more than a place to live, with residences, amenities and services that give people opportunities to live, work and connect right at home,” Lloyd Goldman, president of BLDG Management, said in a statement. “BLDG has been part of the Long Island City community for more than 60 years, and we wanted the Orchard to build on that legacy by creating a place that serves both residents and the broader neighborhood.”
The asking rent and the length of Intuit’s lease were not disclosed. The average asking rent for retail space in Long Island City ranges between $18 and $100 per square foot, according to listings on Loopnet.com. Intuit is expected to open its Orchard location in December.
In October, Japanese tea and beverage brand Mollytea also signed a new 1,671-square-foot lease at 42-06 Orchard Street, and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2027. The asking rent and the length of the lease were not disclosed.
In July, Korean beauty supplier Tokimo took 2,251 square feet at the Orchard for what will be its third location in the greater metropolitan area. Tokimo also has locations in Flushing and East Rutherford, N.J. The asking rent and the length of the lease were not disclosed.
Broker information was not immediately available. Corcoran Sunshine is the exclusive marketing and leasing agent for the Orchard.
The building houses 824 residences and is 90 percent leased, according to BLDG. Amenities at the property include a 60,000-square-foot outdoor deck that features a swimming pool, a dog park, barbeque areas, and a running track. There are also indoor work and play areas, a private event space, and a rooftop lounge.
