Avocado Green Mattress, a seller of eco-luxury mattresses, has signed a five-year lease at 3336 M Street NW in Washington, D.C., with EastBanc Inc.

The 4,946-square-foot store is scheduled to open this summer in Georgetown’s popular Cady’s Alley.

“In researching the Avocado brand and ambitions, it was quickly apparent that there was no better place than Cady’s Alley for them to make their mark in Washington, D.C.,” Philippe Lanier, a principal at EastBanc, said. “We are further encouraged by how many members of the Avocado team have D.C. origins and will make a growing international brand represent themselves as a local retailer.”

In the past year, EastBanc has also added modern furniture store Blu Dot to Cady’s Alley in the Georgetown Design District, and Lanier said he is confident that the trend of adding design-focused retailers will continue in 2021.

Kristopher Karuna, Avocado’s vice president of retail development, noted that the company chose the location due to its support of cutting-edge brands with a focus on eco-sustainability and social impact.

“We love the distinctive charm of Cady’s Alley, and we are excited to present our unique vision of a retail brand experience that extends beyond the perception of a typical mattress store,” he said. “There will be plenty of new products for customers to discover that meet the rigorous standards of our award-winning natural mattress, as well as ongoing events and exhibits of art, music, speakers, food, and more that align with our vision and values.”

In keeping with that philosophy, the store will boast work from local artists and include space for yoga classes, speaker series, and will offer a wellness cafe that serves healthy, locally-sourced snacks and Kombucha on tap.
