Public Clothing Company, a distributor of luxury apparel, will move its headquarters to 151 West 26th Street in Chelsea, Commercial Observer has learned.

Public inked a 12-year deal for 17,610 square feet on the entire seventh floor for its offices and a showroom, according to tenant brokers Adams & Co. Real Estate. Asking rent was $61 per square foot. The 12-story property, located between Avenue of the Americas and Fifth Avenue, is owned by the Rosen family.

The clothing distributor was founded in 1993 and its portfolio includes brands Anthony Thomas Melillo and HyperColor. Public currently has space at 499 Seventh Avenue between West 36th and West 37th Streets in the Garment District and plans to move into its new digs in May, according to Adams & Co.

“Public Clothing Company wanted to establish a more long-term presence in both the NoMad and Chelsea areas and this location offered the best of both neighborhoods,” Adams & Co.’s Jeff Buslik, who represented the tenant with David Levy, said in a statement. “The spacious layout and the ability to house its offices and showroom all on one floor made this space the perfect fit for the firm to continue its rapid growth.”

Max Koeppel of Koeppel Rosen, the leasing and management agent for the Rosen family, handled the deal for the landlord.

“We are excited to welcome Public Clothing Company to 151 West 26th Street,” Koeppel said in a statement. “The growing fashion firm is a terrific addition to our diverse tenant roster.”

Other tenants in the 204,000-square-foot 151 West 26th Street include the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, CTA Architects and indoor farm startup Bowery Farming, which signed a deal for 17,610 square feet on the 12th floor last month.
