reprintsCalifornia-based Security Industry Specialists has signed an 11,633-square-foot lease at the Starrett-Lehigh Building at 601 West 26th Street.
The security company signed a 10-year-six-month deal for a portion of the 13th floor of the building, according to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the lease. Asking rent for the space was in the high-$60s per square foot.
Headquartered in Culver City, Calif., SIS had previously subleased New York office space at 575 Broadway in Soho, according to the Journal report.
“Decision makers at SIS were drawn to Starrett Lehigh Building because the building’s character fits with the company’s philosophy of outside the box approach to the security industry. The space on the 13th floor, which has a very industrial and creative feel, boasts large wrap-around windows offering river views and is complimented by high exposed ceilings,” said Andrew Margolin of the Kaufman Organization, who represented the tenant, in a prepared statement. “The building’s unique perks, such as food trucks parking on select floors along with the community feel and impressive tenant roster, sealed the deal for SIS.”
Landlord RXR Realty paid Shorenstein Properties $900 million for the Starrett-Lehigh Building in 2011. The tenant roster at the 2.3 million-square-foot building includes Hugo Boss, Under Armour and Martha Stewart.
Denise Rodriguez and Bill Elder represented the landlord in-house.
