Boingo Wireless Acquires Advanced Wireless Group

Boingo Wireless, the provider of Wifi services to New York City’s airports and subway stations, is expanding its reach.

Known for providing Wifi services in New York City and around the country, the company will acquire Advanced Wireless Group. The deal will boost Boingo’s market share among service providers at airports and public spaces since Advanced Wireless is also a provider in the same segment.

Boingo_logo_notag_pmsThe deal between the companies is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2013. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This is a great opportunity to combine both personnel and best practices from two leading companies and put resources in closer proximity to all of our partner airports,” Nick Hulse, president of Boingo Wireless said. “The expanded regional coverage will enable our management teams to boost responsiveness to airport executives and readily address their needs.”

Currently,m Boingo’s Wifi and DAS coverage provider portfolio includes stadiums, military bases, shopping malls, universities and airports. Boingo’s acquisition makes it the top provider for nearly 60 percent of North America’s top 50 airports. Advanced Wireless operates Wifi service at 17 airports across the United States, including Los Angeles LAX, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Miami International and Logan International airport in Boston.
