Pier One Imports has inked a deal in Staten Island.
The retailer that specialized in imported him furnishings and decor has grabbed a 12,000-square-foot location at 2385 Richmond Avenue in Staten Island.
The location will be its sixth in the city, following locations at 1110 Third Avenue and 71 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and a few spread throughout Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
“The space has large storefront windows and is open,” said Nina Roket, a partner at Olshan and a representative in the deal. “[The store is] compromised of two floors [as well].”
Pier One Imports was attracted to the location because of “consumer demographics, great visibility, and [adjacency] to Trader Joe‘s,” Mrs. Roket explained.
The street, Richmond Avenue, is an integral north-south thoroughfare on the island, especially for retail where dozens of national chains and stores are located.
Mrs. Roket represented the landlord in the transaction, Helm Equities. A broker from Welcom Realty represented Pier One Imports but wasn’t involved in negotiations.
“This development is indicative of the current trend of national retailers investing and moving into the outer boroughs where there is increased consumer demand,” Mrs. Roket further commented.
Other tenants including TD Bank, Walgreens, and Harbor Freight Tools have all recently announced locations in the outer boroughs.
