reprintsThe Spector Group, an architecture, interior design, and master planning firm, will be moving from their headquarters at 19 West 44th Street to 183 Madison Avenue.
The new space at 183 Madison will span 13,000 square feet, with an emphasis on keeping an open floor plan.
“It brings about a connectivity, an interaction, that I feel is necessary in a creative environment, such as what we are in,” said Scott Spector, principal of Spector Group.
“We had our best year in 2011 in company history and the growth predicated a move. We added staff and outgrew the space in which we are currently located.” said Mr. Spector.
“Right now, we’re on two, separate floors and I wanted the architects and professionals to be together in one, cohesive space. The new offices are also ideal for our future needs, one of which, of course, is continued growth,” he added.
The brokers on the transaction and asking rent for the transaction was not disclosed.
183 Madison boasts 260,000 square feet and over 19 stories with turn-key suites, offices, and penthouse offices with private terraces. The City Review calls 183 Madison an “Art Deco jewel,” and the building was once the house for the Peppermint Lounge, a popular dance club in the 1980s.
The building remains 90% leased, with about 40,000 square feet available for rent. The building is under-ground a multi-million dollar renovation that will include an upgraded lobby with a new concierge desk and security system, bathroom, and common areas.
