A manufacturer of high-end mozzarella, Buffa, is opening a new classy dining spot on Third Avenue. The cheesemakers already have a restaurant, Obika, in the atrium of the Trump Tower, serving all the staples: juice, coffee, soup, wine and, of course, mozzarella.

John Grotto of the Durst Organization told The Commercial Observer that the landlord actively sought the restaurant for the space. “They were looking to expand,” he said. “They did have a broker, but initially we went to them.” Guy Morris and Leonard Rosenblatt of Botsaris Realty Group represented the tenant.

The new location, between 50th and 51st streets, is a block away from Smith & Wollensky deli. The primarily residential neighborhood will also catch some of the midtown office crowd, as well as tourists from nearby hotels, Mr. Grotto said.

The asking rent was $200 a square foot.
