reprintsThe Row, the clothing and apparel company owned by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, is taking roughly 32,000 square feet at 609 Greenwich Street for its office and showroom space.
The label leased the roughly 100,000-square-foot building’s entire second and third floors. Asking rents at the nine-story property, which is located on the periphery of an area known as Hudson Square where leasing has been strong, are in the mid $40s to low $50s per square foot.
The building is owned by Centaur Properties, a firm controlled by the real estate investors Harlan Berger and Henry Hay, which own a collection of properties in Manhattan, including several locations in the booming Midtown South neighborhood.
The Row is part of Dualstar, the parent company that controls the Olsen Twins’ business ventures, including the series of tween-oriented straight-to-video productions staring the twins and other Olsen-branded products that made the pair millionaire moguls by the time they were young teens.
The Row was started by the twins in 2007 and according to its website is named for Savile Row, the famous line of custom suiting shops in London.
Mary Kate and Ashley were said to have personally gone on space tours of 609 Greenwich Street to inspect the new home for their clothing label.
A spokeswoman for the Row did not return calls. Representatives at Centaur Properties also could not be reached by press time.
The property is represented by a leasing team from Newmark Grubb Knight Frank who also couldn’t be reached.
