Stan Kroenke has found huge success since relocating the National Football League’s Rams to L.A. just seven years ago, and it’s not just about winning a Super Bowl.

The tycoon (worth $14.6 billion, according to Forbes) led the development of the $5 billion, 70,000-seat SoFi Stadium (where the Rams won Super Bowl LVI) within the massive 300-acre Hollywood Park in Inglewood. The larger development features 900,000 square feet of retail space, 800,000 square feet of office space, 2,500 residential units, and a 300-room hotel. It also hosts a 6,000-seat, 227,000-square-foot performing arts center.

For one example, the NFL already moved its West Coast headquarters into a 214,100-square-foot space at the Gensler-designed NFL Building at Hollywood Park, which also features studio and support space totaling 74,922 square feet.

But now, Kroenke is preparing to build another massive development in the San Fernando Valley. Starting in 2022, his company bought the Promenade development site for $150 million, which will make way for a new practice facility for the Rams. It’s adjacent to The Village, a 600,000-square-foot outdoor shopping mall nearby in the Warner Center area, which Kroenke bought for $325 million in December 2022. Moreover, it’s near a 13-story office tower that Kroenke bought for $175 million.

The assemblage of properties is large enough for a major mixed-use project with retail, hotels, dining or residences to surround the practice facility and a new headquarters for the Rams — which could roll out in similar fashion as did Hollywood Park.

Separately, Kroenke’s firm also recently paid $81.5 million for the 50,700-square-foot Malibu Village Shopping Center. The company owns more than 2,000 apartments in L.A., too.

Kroenke also owns the Colorado Avalanche, which won the 2022 Stanley Cup; the Denver Nuggets, which won the 2023 NBA Finals; the Arsenal Football Club soccer franchise in the U.K.; and other professional sports teams, arenas and stadiums.
