Having previously served as Cushman & Wakefield’s CEO for the Americas, Andrew McDonald still oversees plenty at the global firm.

Following the promotion of Michelle MacKay to global CEO after the retirement of John Forrester in 2023, McDonald moved up the ladder as well into MacKay’s former positions.

In those roles, McDonald has a say over all commercial services lines and geographic regions in which the brokerage operates, being specifically responsible for marketing, communications and research.

But primarily, he has been focused recruiting and promoting talent such as with the appointment of Marla Maloney and Brad Kreiger as co-chief executives of the Americas. Maloney’s responsibilities cover capital markets, asset services, agency leasing and valuation and advisory while Kreiger specializes in occupier clients, local markets and sales enablement.

Other appointments made by McDonald include Matt Chatham as president of occupier advisory services; Victoria Malkin as president of Americas Markets; Toby Dodd as chief revenue officer of the Americas; Morgan Trotter as chief operating officer of the Americas and Emily Kehinde as chief marketing officer.

He also previously worked as Cushman & Wakefield’s president of the Americas West region and as regional managing principal of Southern California as well as in a leading role in C&W’s Asia-Pacific operations. McDonald got his start in the industry more than 25 years ago with ASIMCO, a Beijing-based private equity firm now owned by Bain Capital, later taking a job with Cushman Realty Corporation, which merged into Cushman & Wakefield.

McDonald then planted long-term roots in Southern California beginning in 2001. During his time as president of the West region, he was based in a Downtown Los Angeles office. Before that, he was executive managing director and then managing principal for Greater L.A. and Orange County.
