San Francisco-based apparel brand American Giant has arrived in Brooklyn.

The manufacturer of sportswear and casual clothing made exclusively in the United States has signed a lease for 3,400 square feet at 83-85 Metropolitan Avenue in North Williamsburg, where it will open its first Brooklyn store, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The location between Kent and Wythe avenues secures American Giant a spot along Williamsburg’s increasingly popular waterfront corridor near Domino Park, as well as proximity to nearby North Sixth Street, where high-end brands like Rolex and Hermes host their borough flagships.

Cornelia Street Partners’ Lenny Kohlmayer and Evan Kleinberg negotiated the lease on behalf of American Giant, while Flatiron Real Estate Advisors’ Steven Ancona represented the landlord entity, China Building.

American Giant’s upcoming retail location will occupy 1,700 square feet of the space, according to a spokesperson for Cornelia Street Partners. American Giant has not disclosed plans for the remaining 1,700 square feet of its lease.

The deal carries a 10-year term, and its asking rent was not disclosed. A recent deal inked by fashion retailer Zara at nearby 184-192 Bedford Avenue notched $450 per square foot for the ground floor, according to The Real Deal.

Founded in 2011, American Giant currently operates a store in San Francisco and an outlet location in Smithfield, N.C., according to its website. A showroom in San Francisco is listed as temporarily closed, and the brand’s SoHo store, which opened at 339 West Broadway in 2024, has since ceased operations.

American Giant and Ancona did not respond to requests for comment, and representatives for China Building could not be reached by press time.
