National development firm Holt Construction has hired industry veteran Adam Canosa as president, Commercial Observer has learned.

Canosa started his new role at the company headquartered in Pearl River, N.Y., on Oct. 19 after two years as a construction advisory principal at Grassi Advisors and over 20 years in the industry overall, according to Holt Construction.

“Construction is ultimately a people business,” Canosa said in a statement. “The success of a company comes from the people who build it, the relationships we develop, and the trust we establish with clients, trade partners and one another.”

A certified public accountant, Canosa has experience with contractors, specialty trades, owners, and leadership teams for construction projects, helping them maximize profits and strengthen operations.

“Adam brings an uncommon combination of construction experience, financial expertise, operational leadership, and a genuine understanding of what it takes to run a successful contracting business,” Patricia Zugibe, CEO of Holt, said in a statement. “He understands the business from multiple perspectives, but just as importantly, he understands that a strong company is built around strong people.”

Holt manages projects throughout New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Texas and Florida.

Canosa got his start in 2007 at accounting and advisory services firm Marcum as senior manager of its assurance department. He worked at Marcum for almost 12 years before becoming chief financial officer of New Haven, Conn.-based construction company C.J. Fucci, according to Canosa’s LinkedIn profile.
