Since taking over in January as CEO of sustainability data management services firm Measurabl, Maureen Waters has been arming herself with information to deliver better results to its biggest clients.

Waters moved up the ladder swiftly, joining San Diego-based Measurabl in 2023 as chief growth officer and becoming its president a year later. Waters left no stone unturned in looking for the best ways to lead the company into its next chapter. In doing so, she works with top executives such as Kumar Brahnmath and Mike Zatz.

“When I became CEO, I actually decided to spend the first 90 days on what we called a CEO listening tour, and I met with 80 of our customers in eight countries and 23 cities in the first three months,” she said. “After completing that, we really built a plan around strategically what our focus was going to be, and really developed what I’m calling a customer operating model, which is every decision we make within Measurabl is focused on customer outcome first.”

Waters has created a product council and an innovation council to address some of the feedback gained in her discussions, as well as creating a “super user program” for clients who are using the environmental, social and governance platform, such as its Quantum system, to help manage their daily business.

Through that program, Measurabl has been training and certifying professionals in its platform while also harvesting feedback.

“[In ESG] we’ve had some market headwinds, but we’ve also had political headwinds, so with the combination there is certainly something that we’re paying close attention to,” Waters said. “We’re starting to see sustainability and asset management teams really becoming aligned with the big firms around what the strategy is long term for sustainability within the asset.”

Measurabl as of this August tracked more than 28 billion square feet across 97 countries.
