After just over a decade of growth, MetaProp co-founders Zachary Aarons and Aaron Block planted seeds in 2026 for the next stage of the Manhattan-based firm’s ascent as a proptech venture capital leader.
The firm launched MetaProp Labs in May as a platform utilizing AI specifically geared toward the commercial real estate industry.
“There are many mid-market, well-known businesses that have been built over the years in the real estate-related space where the CEO wants to evolve and harness and transform their business with this agentic AI wave that we’re in, but there aren’t a lot of resources or tools or human capital available to help them,” Block said. “It’s nice to pioneer again and do something that’s really needed in a moment when our industry is in the process of another major transformation.”
MetaProp’s successful past year has also included some successful exits. Those included Obie, a property and casualty insurance carrier the firm backed with seed funding in 2019, which the Baldwin Group acquired in January 2026. It also saw its portfolio company Urbint, an AI- powered software platform, get acquired by Itron for $325 million in late 2025.
Manhattan-based MetaProp has by late 2026 exited 27 companies and invested in more than 200 companies with 160 active positions. The firm now has 12 employees and is approaching $300 million in funds overseen, a far cry from when Block and Aarons launched during a period when the proptech industry was in its infancy in 2015.
“When we launched it, we had no employees and a dream,” Aarons said. “When it comes to finding great entrepreneurs and helping them achieve their dream infrastructure, energy, real estate and construction — that’s our magic.”
