Arc Capital Partners has secured $29.3 million to refinance the Chapman Market, a nearly century-old retail and dining destination in Los Angeles’ Koreatown.
Voya Investment Management provided the financing for the popular 41,241-square-foot property at 3465 West Sixth Street, also known as Chapman Plaza, along one of Koreatown’s primary commercial corridors. Arc Capital acquired the historic asset 10 years ago for $30 million, records show, and secured a $25.5 million bridge loan in 2021.
The property opened in 1928 and was one of the first markets in the Western U.S. designed around the use of the automobile, according to the nonprofit L.A. Conservancy. It was designated as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
Chapman Market has evolved into a multi-tenant dining, retail and entertainment center with a heavy concentration of Korean food and specialty concepts. Tenants include Escala, Quarters Korean BBQ, KazuNori, Starbucks, Origin Korean BBQ, Shibuyala, Toebang Café, Danbi, Tiger Sugar Boba, BHC Chicken and Uncle Tetsu, along with private club Club HUE.
Northmarq’s Joe Giordani, Alex Kane and Karl Weidell facilitated the debt along with Bryan Ley and Tim Kuruzar.
“If you’ve been to this property, you know it sits at the epicenter of Koreatown’s vibrant nightlife,” Giordani said in a statement.
