The Meridian Group has released plans for the next phase of The Boro, a mixed-use community in Tysons, Va., which will include 1 million square feet of new space for residential and retail with a ribbon park in the center.

The Meridian Group will team up with Akridge and Silverstone Senior Living on part of the project that will connect the first and second phases of the neighborhood across Westpark Drive.

The first 1.7 million-square-foot phase consisted of 700 residences and 260,000 square feet of retail. Phase 2 will be developed on four blocks comprising 40,000 square feet of retail space, more than an acre of public park and recreational space, and more than 800 residential units.

“The Boro has been an amazing transformation for Tysons, and we’re looking forward to expanding this urban neighborhood with a variety of housing options,” Tom Boylan, The Meridian Group’s senior vice president, said in a prepared release.

The project will also include a recreational trail inside a new, linear ribbon park system at the center of the project called Allsboro Park, as well as pedestrian-only crossings connecting various locations within the site, including a Whole Foods at 1635 Boro Place.

Demolition of a former National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) office building, a large surface parking lot and an adjacent site will begin later this month, with rezoning for the area scheduled this fall.
