EastBanc is starting Concept 31/M, an initiative featuring a rotating set of retailers, at 3077 M Street NW in Washington, D.C., starting next month.

The D.C.-based landlord is converting the former 22,300-square-foot home of Brooks Brothers in the popular Georgetown location with the goal of helping local businesses survive.

“Eastbanc is always looking for new ways to innovate, evolve and to raise the bar,” Anthony Lanier, EastBanc’s president and CEO, said. “We are working to create a place where brands, be they primarily digital or brick-and-mortar, new or old, have a space where they can easily experiment and learn.”

Among the retailers taking part are jewelry designers Kicheko Goods and Isabel Alexander, Laiík sandals and Flex All Day athleisure. Each retailer will design and operate its own portion of the site.

“At Concept 31/M, we envisioned an innovative retail atmosphere that supports retailers by drawing in shoppers with an immersive, dynamic experience unlike any other in Georgetown,” Lanier said. “We are excited to bring our first set of retailers to the space, including many local D.C. brands, and are looking forward to what’s to come.”

Currently, Concept 31/M can host approximately 10 brands and EastBanc plans to expand into the second level of the property sometime later this year, adding additional space for 10 more brands to join the collective.
