CBRE (CBRE)’s newly launched flexible office space unit, Hana, is opening its first outpost on the East Coast via a roughly 40,000-square-foot presence in JBG Smith (JBGS)’s 2451 Crystal Drive in Arlington, Va.

The firm has partnered to take nearly 39,000 square feet at JBG’s 11-story, 400,000-square-foot office property in National Landing. Like Hana’s other locations in Dallas and Irvine, Calif., the space will offer flex-office leasing to large enterprises, mid-tier companies and startups.

“Teaming up with Hana enables us to diversify the offerings available to current and potential tenants in National Landing,” David Ritchey, JBG Smith’s executive vice president, told Commercial Observer. “Hana’s unique approach to flex workspace offers tenants an array of enhanced amenities, support and growth opportunities that align with their evolving needs.”

According to Ritchey, 2451 Crystal Drive provides a prime workspace for tenants, with easy access to multiple modes of transportation — it’s close to the Crystal City Metro Station and the Virginia Railway Express, as well as Reagan National Airport — and a recently reimagined, hospitality-inspired lobby.

“The immediate neighborhood is also home to a variety of amenity and retail offerings, including a child care facility, expansive fitness center, new restaurants, and bike storage and repair,” he said. “Its location in National Landing means Hana, and all tenants of 2451 Crystal Drive, will experience firsthand the excitement and evolution of the neighborhood that will come with Amazon (AMZN)’s HQ2 development.”

Hana opened its first location in Dallas last August and has three locations planned in London and one in Irvine, Calif.

“Hana is thrilled to partner with JBG Smith for our first East Coast location at National Landing surrounded by fantastic amenities available to Hana members and a dramatic transformation occurring within the neighborhood,” Andrew Kupiec, Hana’s CEO, said in prepared remarks. “We believe our unique flexible space solution, coupled with National Landing’s array of live, work and play offerings, will provide Hana clients a premier workspace to attract and retain top talent.”

CBRE’s Doug Bakke, Lou Christopher and Jordan Brainard represented Hana in the deal.
