Cresa has hired finance expert Dave Metzger as chief financial officer to work out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., headquarters, according to the global advisory firm.

Metzger comes to the firm with 25 years of experience working in private equity firms and real estate service companies, according to a statement from Cresa. He was most recently the CFO at Frontpoint Security, where he was responsible for finance, accounting, legal and risk management. He also held positions at RE/MAX Holdings, leading the firm to “a successful IPO and secondary offering.”

In his new role, Metzger will lead Cresa’s finance team “with a focus on financial reporting, long-term financial and strategic planning, and mergers and acquisitions as the company continues to expand and reach new markets,” per the company statement.

Cresa CEO Jim Underhill told Commercial Observer that he expects Metzger to take the firm to the next level, which is “to be the premier real estate advisory for occupiers globally” by focusing 100 percent on “creative real estate solutions for occupiers, not anyone else.”

Metzger said in prepared remarks that Cresa’s “disruption of the CRE advisory space is one of the most exciting developments in the industry,” explaining why he joined the firm. “With Cresa’s laser focus on representing the needs of occupiers, we have a tremendous competitive advantage over the large full service firms in our industry that are trying to be all things to all people.”

He will lead a team of 20 and report to Underhill, according to a Cresa spokesman.
