USA Halal Foods has signed a 12,590-square-foot deal for warehouse and office space at 179-17 149th Avenue in the Jamaica section of Queens, Commercial Observer has learned.

The company, a wholesale  distributor of halal food, will occupy the entire building between Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and 182nd Street near John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to the tenant’s broker, Harvest International. The lease spans 9,500 square feet on the ground floor for warehousing space and 3,090 square feet for offices on part of the second floor. Ceiling heights reach 16 feet high in the warehouse section and there is access to numerous loading docks.

“Due to the amount of distribution USA Halal Foods conducts throughout the East Coast, having eight dedicated loading docks was a strong driver in the tenant’s decision to lease this warehouse,” Harvest International’s Vincenzo Amato, who handled the deal for the USA Halal Foods with colleagues Theo Kontis and Daphne Chan, said in prepared remarks.

The terms of the deal were not immediately clear, but asking rents for similar warehouses near JFK range from $16 per square foot to $20 per square foot, Amato said. USA Halal Food is relocating from 47-00 Northern Boulevard in the Long Island City section of the borough.

Brian Pinnola and Matthew Giugliano of NAI Long Island represented landlord Seagis JFK LLC. Pinnola and Giugliano did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.
