reprintsClothing conglomerate Global Brands Group seems to be on a subleasing tear. Earlier this month, the Chinese company subleased an entire floor at Empire State Realty Trust’s 1333 Broadway in Herald Square. But now Global Brands Group has struck again, this time subleasing two floors to New York-based Alfred Dunner, a source with intimate knowledge of the deal told Commercial Observer.
The producer of women’s sportswear signed a deal for 59,132 square feet at the 12-story building between West 35th and West 36th Streets. Alfred Dunner will take the 11th and 12th floors of the 354,962-square-foot structure. The lease runs through October 2023, the source said.
Mitchell Konsker, Alexander Chudnoff, Ben Bass and Dan Turkewitz of JLL (JLL) represented the sublandlord, while Bob Savitt and Marc Schoen of savitt partners represented the subtenant.
Alfred Dunner is moving and expanding from 1411 Broadway, four blocks away from its new office. The family-run company will increase its foothold by more than 10,000 square feet. CoStar shows that Alfred Dunner currently leases 48,317 square feet at the building between West 39th and West 40th Streets.
For Global Brands Group, this is just the latests in a string of subleases at the 100-year-old 1333 Broadway. As CO reported earlier this month, linen manufacturer Excell subleased the eighth floor from the company, which spun off from its parent, Li & Fung, in 2014. In August, The Levy Group, which produces items for such brands as Vera Wang, inked a sublease for 43,700 square feet on part of the seventh floor and all of the ninth floor.
