Lion Management Group has signed a 10-and-a-half-year lease for the entire 9,538-square-foot 17th floor of 1384 Broadway, Commercial Observer has learned. The entity that will operate out of the space is the Barbizon School of Modeling and Acting.

The tenant will pay rent starting in the low-$40s per square foot and is expected to relocate from its space at the New Yorker hotel at 481 Eighth Avenue sometime during the month of May.

“They had been at New Yorker in an old, tired space and they needed a revamp because they’re expanding their presence in New York,” said Brittany Wunsch of JLL (JLL), who represented the tenant alongside Alexander Chudnoff.

The landlord, the Chetrit Group, was represented in the deal by Howard Kessler and Matthew Feigen of Newmark (NMRK) Grubb Knight Frank. The Chetrit Group is building out the space for the tenant.

Founded in 1939, the Barbizon School of Modeling and Acting today boasts operations in over 200 markets worldwide. Each location is independently owned and operated.
