Fresenius Medical Care North America will be opening an office in the Bronx.
The provider of kidney dialysis service and renal care products will take 17,000 square feet of Simone Development‘s Metro Center Atrium. The office will act as both a treatment space and medical office to support the wide range of services.
“Metro Center Atrium has quickly taken shape as the Bronx’s leading mixed-use property, offering the best package of amenities in its market,” said Jim MacDonald, vice president and director of leasing for Hutchinson Metro Center, in a prepared statement. “We anticipate tremendous demand for the remaining Class A office, medical and retail space.”
Metro Center Atrium is the latest development of the greater Hutchinson Metro Center, a 42-acre multibuilding complex that has attracted large tenants like Montefiore Medical Center, which took 280,000 square feet earlier this year.
The atrium spans approximately 370,000 square feet and focuses on smaller tenants, such as LA Fitness, which signed a 43,000-square-foot deal last year, and medical offices like Dr. Eric Wolf MD and Hangar Prosthetics, which took 2,850 and 4,900 square feet, respectively.
“These are exciting times for the Bronx and we’re very proud to be a major contributor to the economic renaissance underway in the borough,” Mr. MacDonald added.
Mr. MacDonald, who brokered all of the transactions, noted that approximately148,000 square feet of space remains available, all of which can be split between office, medical, retail and restaurant uses.
