William Sandholm, a 40-year real estate veteran at Rose Associates who has overseen construction, financing, operations and development during his tenure at the company, was promoted from chief operating officer to chief executive officer. It’s the first time in the firm’s 83-year history that a non-family member has filled the top position.

Brian Peters, who formerly served as a senior managing director with Rose Associates, will fill Mr. Sandholm’s vacated position as chief operating officer. Having joined the firm in 1995, Mr. Peters rose to become head of management of the 37,000 units currently being handled by Rose, according to a press release.

“Watching the professional growth and career of Bill Sandholm has been one of the greatest joys in my owner career,” said Daniel Rose, chairman of the family-owned company. “Bill will continue to make important contributions as we groom and train a new generation of leaders.”
