There was some discrepancy over what caused an accident at the Williamsburg construction site of a future Whole Foods.
A worker at the construction site, at 238 Bedford Avenue, plummeted around 11:30 yesterday morning, according to a spokesperson with the New York City Fire Department, which responded to a call reporting the incident. The city Department of Buildings and the Department of Investigation announced the findings today from their investigation into the deadly 2011 elevator accident at 285 Madison Avenue that killed Young & Rubicam executive Suzanne Hart in rather horrific fashion, and both agencies confirmed that maintenance workers failed to repair the elevator up to city safety standards days prior to the incident.
In what is perhaps every New Yorker’s worst fear, an elevator suddenly ascended as a woman was entering it, killing her and injuring two others.
