Mirai Creations, a Japanese hair salon, is slated to open its first location at 178 West Houston Street between Bedford and Bleecker Streets, according to Crain’s New York Business.

According to the paper, Mirai Creations signed a 10-year lease for the 850-square-foot storefront, which includes 450 square feet on the ground floor and 400 square feet in the basement. It will open to the public in April.

Steve Rappaport of Sinvan Real Estate represented the landlord, 348 East Realty, in negotiations.

“The block itself is a very interesting street,” he told Commercial Observer. “It’s just a block in from [Avenue of the Americas], but it’s also at the tip of Bedford Street, which is a really cool, charming street. It is heavily-trafficked for a side street.” The storefront also sits across from a pocket park.

Hiroko Onishi of Nezu Properties represented the hair salon, but could not immediately be reached for comment. Crain’s reported that the asking rent was $200 per square foot.

The hair salon will take the space previously occupied by Liza Sherman Antiques. Prior to that, the space was home to a Dallas BBQ.
