Hope Curtis has followed in the footsteps of her father, grandfather and uncle in carving out a career path in commercial real estate.

The Massachusetts native, who majored in finance and marketing at Fairfield University, first dipped her toes in the industry with an internship at a small commercial real estate firm in Boston during her junior year. After initially working in a more traditional banking role at Citi following graduation, Curtis had a desire to return to the CRE world and pursued a master’s in real estate at New York University.

“Marketing and finance ended up being such a good mix of undergrad for my current job now, which is a mix of numbers and marketing myself,” said Curtis, who joined Greystone in 2017 shortly after earning that master’s degree. “I was always interested in commercial real estate and I just didn’t know what sector of it would make me happy. I have found it here at Greystone.”

Curtis works on a variety of deal sizes in the multifamily sector across the nation with much of her concentration of late focused on the New York City region. She has worked on agency-backed financings as well as debt backed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for projects with an affordable housing component. Her team is on pace to close around $150 million in production for 2022.

Curtis is also committed to showing her 18-month-old daughter that you can build a successful career as a mom. She wants to continue to grow with Greystone for the long term while also keeping the door open to someday becoming a multifamily investor.

“That’s definitely not something that’s off the tables,” she said. “But I like having the basis of being in this lending space. I think I found my niche.”—A.C.
