Eric Roth, 28
Director at Cushman & Wakefield
Eric Roth was introduced to the world of real estate at a young age via table talk with his father, who worked on the banking side of the industry. That early exposure led to summer internships at Argo Real Estate and Massey Knakal while he was a student at the University of Delaware and, after college, a position in investment sales at Cushman & Wakefield.
Asking around for advice after starting in the business, Roth said he was told to “go do as many deals as possible.” He’s done his best to follow that tip, participating in the sale of more than 70 buildings, accounting for more than $700 million in total sales since joining Cushman & Wakefield full-time in 2015.
Recently, Roth worked on Brack Capital Real Estate’s sale of the 16-story, 250,000-square-foot 720 West End Avenue to Wafra Capital Partners for $165 million. Additionally, he is involved in marketing a 2.5-acre site at 2328 12th Avenue in Harlem owned by Fairway Market founders the Glickberg family. He said the site was garnering attention from a wide range of potential buyers given the uniqueness of a sizable “industrial, last-mile-type of property” in Manhattan.
Roth’s team also is working on a portfolio of 26 residential buildings on the Upper West and Upper East sides, though he said he couldn’t provide any details on that transaction at the moment.
The pandemic impacted business, of course, leading to what Roth described as an “OK” 2020. Things have rebounded in 2021, though.
“There’s been an exponential increase in activity,” he said. “Deals are harder and harder to execute, but the deal volume is high. There’s a ton of capital coming into the city. We’re working double-time.”—A.B.
