Pursuit Transformation, a nonprofit company that trains adults in tech careers, has signed a 41,000-square-foot lease to relocate its New York City headquarters to Tishman Speyer’s the Jacx, a 700,000-square-foot office development on Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens, according to tenant broker Newmark.

“The Jacx provides Pursuit with an exceptional environment to support its continued growth and evolution,” Newmark’s Daniel Levine, who represented the tenant alongside David Falk, said in a statement. “The new headquarters will allow the organization to build on its strong presence in Long Island City while creating a workplace that supports its people, mission and long-term objectives.”

Pursuit is leading a new AI Jobs Institute aimed at training individuals for jobs in artificial intelligence, according to an announcement from Gov. Kathy Hochul released Thursday.

“New York has an opportunity to set the national standard for how AI creates opportunity,” Nick Simmons, CEO at Pursuit, said in the governor’s announcement. “The AI Jobs Institute will bring together public leadership, industry expertise, and trusted community-rooted training so that New Yorkers can build the skills and careers this new economy demands.”

Pursuit signed a “long-term” lease for its new space on the entire 14th and 15th floors of the property, located at 28-07 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. The asking rent was not disclosed, but the average asking rent for office space in Long Island City ranges between $30 per square foot to over $100 per square foot, according to listings on SquareFoot.

Pursuit is relocating its headquarters from 47-10 Austell Place, also in Long Island City. The timing of the move was not disclosed.

Tishman Speyer was represented in-house in the deal by Megan Sheehan. Tishman and Pursuit did not immediately respond to CO’s requests for comment.

Retailer Macy’s also has office space at the Jacx, a two-building office complex. The towers are connected by a landscaped terrace on the fifth floor, where tenants can congregate to enjoy fine weather and city views. The property also provides amenities including a cafe with lounge space, a landscaped rooftop terrace, bike storage and showers.
