Lower Manhattan’s South Street Seaport will be living la dolce vita with its latest restaurant lease.
Casa Serra, a sister restaurant to East Village eatery House of Pasta, has inked a 2,824-square-foot lease at the Durst Organization’s 227 Front Street, the landlord announced Tuesday.
The 15-year lease has an asking rent of $100 per square foot.
“Historic Front Street has seen strong momentum in retail leasing this year with the arrival of Kee’s Chocolates, Mesa Bar and now Casa Serra,” Jody Durst, president of the Durst Organization, said in a statement. “Lower Manhattan brings together a growing residential population, tourism and returning office tenants that all enjoy these new dining and retail concepts.”
Casa Serra, or “greenhouse” in Italian, is expected to open this winter and will feature popular dishes from House of Pasta, including mushroom and truffle white lasagna, bucatini alla pistachio, and chicken milanese with fettuccine al burro.
Durst was represented in-house by Karen Rose and by KSR’s Zach Nathan, Brandon Berger and Hunter Lazan.
“We’ve seen a lot of momentum on Front Street,” Nathan told Commercial Observer. “There’s been strong interest from good operators who see what we see in the Seaport and believe in the direction of the neighborhood. Durst has been very thoughtful about the tenant mix and finding the right operators for these spaces. ”
KSR’s Jack Hamadani, who represented the tenant in this deal, added that Casa Serra’s ownership “saw an opportunity to expand their concept into a neighborhood that continues to gain momentum.”
