Canyon Partners Real Estate is expanding its credit platform with the addition of Chad Goodman from Related Fund Management to lead opportunistic organizations across the Eastern and Central U.S., Commercial Observer can first report.

Goodman joined Canyon’s New York office as head of eastern and central region credit after spending the last six years at Related Fund Management originating loans for opportunistic and transitional investment strategies.

“Chad brings extensive experience sourcing and structuring complex real estate investments across market cycles, making him a strong addition to our growing credit platform,” Jacob Feingold, partner and head of originations for Canyon Partners Real Estate, said in a statement. “Expanding our origination capabilities in the Central and Eastern U.S. will allow us to deepen our relationships with borrowers and sponsors.”

Prior to arriving at Related in March 2020, Goodman spent nearly 12 years at Westport Capital Partners working on loans across the U.S. in a variety of property sectors. He also worked at Bear Stearns across various mortgage-backed securities and structured products.

The hire of Goodman comes on the heels of Canyon adding Scott Swisher from Acore Capital as a managing director and head of western region credit originations in June, as CO first reported at the time. Canyon also appointed Adam Ostrowsky from Mack Real Estate Group as a managing director of capital markets and Scott San Filippo from Heitman as a senior director of bridge debt.
