Data software company Databricks has doubled its office footprint at 5 Bryant Park less than a year after its arrival.
The company inked the major lease expansion to accommodate the expanding headcount of its New York City-based research, development and engineering hub, according to a Databricks blog post on Monday. Its doubled office space now spans a total of 120,000 square feet across five floors of the Savanna-owned tower.
This is Databricks’ first direct lease in New York City, according to tenant representative JLL. Databricks previously subleased 54,782 square feet across the 34-story building’s eighth and ninth floors. The roughly 65,000-square-foot expansion deal brings the company to the seventh, 18th and 33rd floors, as well. The transaction was first reported by the New York Post.
Databricks’ new lease term inside 5 Bryant Park, also known as 1065 Avenue of the Americas, was not disclosed, nor was the asking rent. Class A office asking rents in Midtown averaged $91.08 per square foot in the third quarter of this year, according to Colliers.
Databricks’ JLL team included Simon Landmann, Mitchell Konsker and Seth Godnick, as well as a California-based team of Armand Tiano and Andy Hueser.
“For a company growing as quickly as Databricks, the priority was finding a real estate solution that could support its expansion while preserving the advantages of its existing location,” Landmann said in a statement.
CBRE and Savanna’s in-house team was led by Brian Reiver. Spokespeople for Savanna and CBRE did not respond to requests for comment.
Databricks provides data services to more than 20,000 organizations, according to its LinkedIn profile, including Adidas, Bayer, Mastercard and Unilever. The company was founded in 2013 in San Francisco, and today lists 38 offices globally. Databricks announced its arrival at 5 Bryant Park back in January, and now claims “one of the largest concentrations of AI research talent in the city.”
In a blog post on Monday, Databricks’ Tasso Argyros tied the recent expansion to New York City’s thriving technology and artificial intelligence industry.
“The expansion will include a dedicated engineering and research floor purpose-built for focused R&D work, alongside enhanced spaces for our go-to-market teams, an executive briefing center, and room for significant future growth,” Argyros wrote.
Other tenants in the 680,000-square-foot building between West 40th and West 41st streets include architectural firm HOK, food delivery platform Grubhub and payroll servicing firm CBIZ.
Savanna previously undertook a full lobby and entrance renovation after acquiring the tower in 2018, and rounded out 2025 with a $510 million refinancing for the office property, Commercial Observer previously reported.
