Madewell To Open New Store at Tishman Speyer’s 1 Rockefeller Plaza

Famed denim and clothing brand Madewell is opening a new store at Tishman Speyer’s 1 Rockefeller Plaza, the landlord announced Thursday. 

The retailer signed a 7,340-square-foot lease at the Midtown landmark, where its new space will open in 2027. The asking rent and the length of the lease were not disclosed, but the average asking rent for retail space in Midtown Plaza District was $2,540 per square foot during the second quarter of 2026, according to CBRE data. 

“Rockefeller Center continues to attract brands that shape culture and consumer behavior globally,” EB Kelly, senior managing director at Tishman Speyer and head of Rockefeller Center, said in a statement. “Madewell’s decision to establish a presence here reinforces the center’s unique ability to combine iconic New York identity with modern cultural relevance.”

Newmark brokered the deal for Madewell, while Tishman Speyer was repped in-house by Lucy Phillips. Newmark did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Madewell’s new store at Rockefeller Center will be its eighth location in New York City.

Built in 1937, 1 Rockefeller Plaza is a 34-story office, dining and shopping center located between West 48th and West 49th streets in Midtown. Office tenants in the building include real estate investment trust Chimera Investment Corporation and investment firm Ulysses Management, while clothing shop Alex Mill has a ground-floor location there.
