Enovational, a software and digital services company, has leased 97,000 square feet at The Aleck, a 172,000-square-foot office building in Washington, D.C., with landlord, The Meridian Group.

“Enovational is a high-growth, forward-thinking company whose mission aligns with our vision for The Aleck,” Katie Yanushonis, Meridian Group’s senior vice president, told Commercial Observer. “The Aleck was named after Alexander Graham Bell, one of the great inventors of the 19th century, so we are excited that our lead tenant shares that same passion for innovation and creativity.”

Located at 1400 L Street NW, between downtown and the 14th Street corridor, The Aleck is situated near Thomas Circle and Franklin Park, close to some of the District’s most notable hotels, restaurants, shops, art galleries and entertainment venues.

The 12-story property recently underwent a $20 million renovation designed by architecture firm Hickok Cole, which included a tenant-only lounge and entertainment space, two large conference rooms with retractable walls, an outdoor terrace and a gourmet catering kitchen.

“Prospective tenants have established an immediate connection to 1400 L,” Yanushonis said. “That’s because of The Aleck’s incredible lounge, conferencing and outdoor terrace amenities on the third floor, as well as its well-designed spec suites. Prospective tenants also love the plaque signage opportunities on 14th Street. That’s especially appealing to tenants of a certain size that may not be afforded signage opportunities elsewhere.”

Enovational will be relocating its offices from 1101 K Street NW, taking the entire seventh through 12th floors of the building. The company customized the space to its needs, adding training spaces, war rooms, user testing labs, scrum areas and a number of deep focus spaces, including library rooms, phone and pairing booths, wellness rooms and game rooms, according to Yanushonis.

“As a company that thrives on close collaboration and co-creation, we are thrilled to move into The Aleck next spring,” Vlad Enache, Enovational’s CEO, said. “On top of The Aleck’s beautiful and modern amenities, we are looking forward to the wide range of collaborative spaces our new office will offer.”

CBRE (CBRE)’s Mark Klug, Scott Frankel, Carroll Cavanagh, Emily Eppolito and Dimitri Hajimihalis represented the landlord in the deal. Akridge’s Tim McCarty and McKay Elliott represented Enovational.
