reprintsLandlords are working harder than ever to bring tenants back to the office. SL Green (SLG) Realty Corp., for example, recently completed a high-end amenity center, complete with a fireplace and a golf simulator, at 100 Park Avenue in Midtown East.
The real estate investment trust hired Design Republic to revamp the 11,000-square-foot, second-floor space, which started construction at the end of 2019 and was completed in February. The unique furniture and aesthetic is midcentury modern, but “not just midcentury,” said Design Republic’s Inga Kruliene. “It’s more of an eclectic mix of custom furniture and rugs.”
When one walks in off the elevator, there is a mummified wall of bright green moss, with bumps that make it resemble an overhead view of a green, hilly landscape. Then, there’s the golf simulator room, complete with an AstroTurf putting green, lockers, and a nearly floor-to-ceiling projection of the golf game. Next up is a personal training studio with a wall of windows, which could also be used for meditation or a small group class.
The main lounge area is essentially divided into four zones. On the right side is a game room, complete with a pool table and a midcentury-style bar cart. A brown plaster wall inset with a glassed-in fireplace and a TV divide the game room from the main lounge area. The fireplace is not real, but it creates the effect of a flame using LED lights and a fine mist of water, according to Kruliene. The furniture includes curved, velvet green armchairs; a tufted brown sofa; low wooden coffee tables; and a custom-designed green rug.
Then, there’s a pantry with another TV, walnut wooden shelving, and a dark wood bar. Beyond the game room, on the far right side of the room, is the “library,” complete with floor-to-ceiling wooden shelving; tufted gray couches; and live-edge, wooden coffee tables.
Rounding out the rest of the space are a large conference room that can be divided into two, along with three small meeting rooms adjoined by a separate, small lounge-and-coffee area.
