reprintsSkanska USA is all-in on The Heming, a 28-story luxury apartment building in Tysons, Va., and is investing $221 million to build and develop the project, according to Skanska.
The property, at 1800 Chain Bridge Road, will be situated across the street from the Metro’s McLean Silver Line station in Scotts Run, a 6.5-million-square-foot mixed-use development by Cityline Partners.
“The accessibility and visibility of this site along with the continued development around the McLean Metro Station, including the Archer Hotel, the Wegmans and the growth of Capital One headquarters all contribute to this exceptional development opportunity,” Mark Carroll, Skanska’s executive vice president of the Greater D.C. region, told Commercial Observer. “Our vision is to deliver a residential building surrounded by engaging outdoor and retail space that adds significant vitality to the Scotts Run master plan.”
Skanska will start construction later this month, and the building is projected to be delivered at the end of 2022, per the company statement. The development will offer 410 multifamily units and include 38,000 square feet of ground-floor restaurant and retail space. It’s targeting LEED Gold certification.
“As Scotts Run continues to mature into a destination and sought-after home for companies, there will certainly be high demand for residences and pleasant streetscape experiences, and we’re thrilled to help deliver on both,” Carroll said.
Skanska is no stranger to the area, with other Washington-area properties including 99M at D.C.’s Capitol Riverfront; an office building at 2112 Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C.; an office building at 1776 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, Va.; and the luxury apartment building RESA at 22 M Street, NE in D.C.
