Jovani Fashions — a fashion house that has made dresses for celebrities like Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey — will move its headquarters and showroom from Midtown to the Garment District, Commercial Observer has learned.

The company signed a five-year lease for 10,092 square feet on the entire sixth floor of Adams & Co.’s 42 West 39th Street between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas, according to the landlord. Asking rent was $45 per square foot.

Jovani, which was founded in 1980 and focuses on women’s formal and evening wear, plans to move from its current offices at 1370 Broadway to the Garment District later this month, the landlord said.

David Levy, a principal at Adams, handled the deal in-house for the landlord while Jonathan Bock and Jason Birk of Olmstead Properties represented Jovani. Birk declined to comment.

Levy said in a statement that 42 West 39th Street’s central location made it an ideal spot for Jovani along with its “large windows” that let in “abundant natural light that is an ideal work setting for designers.”

Other tenants in the 158,000-square-foot building include underwear brand Spanx, cosmetics distributor AS Beauty, home goods and kitchenware brand Core Home and e-commerce retailer Bluefly.
